Organize to End Aid to Israel on MLK/Inauguration Day and Beyond
In less than two weeks, on Monday, January 21, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will coincide with the inauguration of President Barack Obama’s second term.
What a great opportunity to remind our fellow citizens of King’s warnings of the moral and financial dangers of militarism and tie this in to our ongoing campaign to call on the president to end $30 billion of military aid to Israel and redirect that money to unmet community needs.
We’ve printed up these flyers to distribute during the inauguration along with postcards for people to sign calling on President Obama to cut off weapons to Israel.
Are you planning on being in Washington, D.C. for the inauguration? If so, then please sign up to volunteer to help us educate and organize people to end aid to Israel on January 21.
A similar version of this flyer was a huge hit at the dedication of the national MLK memorial in October 2011. Help us make a strong impact with this flyer on Inauguration Day as well by signing up to organize with us.
Organizing to end aid to Israel on January 21 is just one of many actions we’re planning to step up the pressure on President Obama to end aid to Israel in his second term. Stay tuned for our announcement of additional exciting plans next week.
In the meantime, please also make plans to join us the weekend before inauguration, on Saturday, January 19, at member group Progressive Democrats of America’s Progressive Central: The Peoples’ Inauguration. Also, be sure to join us that day for a rally and march organized by member group Jewish Voice for Peace-DC calling for “No Blank Check for Israel!"
If you’re not able to make it to Washington, D.C. for the inauguration, you can still educate and organize people in your community to end U.S. aid to Israel. Sign up today to receive a packet with all the organizing materials—postcards, flyers, stickers, posters, and more—you’ll need.
When you sign up, you’ll be joining thousands of activists in all 50 states and more than 1,100 cities in educating and organizing people to end weapons to Israel.
Thanks for taking action and we hope to see you in Washington, D.C. on January 21.

P.S.: Since we launched a petition last month to the Obama administration calling for accountability for Israel’s killings of Palestinians in Gaza with U.S.-supplied F-16 fighter jets, nearly 15,000 people have signed.
