Steering Committee Statement on the Road Map

June 20th, 2003

Dear friends

Many people have been asking for approaches for thinking about the Road Map launched by the Quartet (the US, Britain, Russia, and the UN) on 30 April 2003.

We continue to believe that only the application of international law and human rights to this conflict will result in a just peace, as stated in the US Campaign Call to Action http://www.endtheoccupation.org/article.php?id=45,
the basis for membership in the Campaign.

International law provides for self-determination, the right of refugees to return, the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war, the need to safeguard the rights of populations under occupation, and the illegality of any change in the status of the occupied land.

For more information and references on international law and its application to this conflict, see the Campaign Fact Sheet #2: Ending the Occupation: It's the Law http://www.endtheoccupation.org/downloads/fact_sheet_2.pdf For

In solidarity,
