Land Day / International BDS Day of Action: March 30

The Palestinian BDS national committee has put out a call to action for people to engage in creative, concrete and visible BDS actions on Tuesday, March 30, including the following:

1. Boycott and divest from Israeli and international corporations that sustain Israel's apartheid, colonialism and occupation.

Stop Caterkiller: Caterpillar supplies equipment specifically built for demolishing Palestinian homes and building the Israeli apartheid wall and illegal settlements.  Click here to order a campaign kit or here to send an email to Caterpillar management demanding they end their support for Israeli occupation and apartheid.

Hang Up On Motorola: Motorola profits from selling "virtual fences" to Israeli settlements and through multi-million dollar contracts with the Israeli military.  Click here to order a campaign kit or here to send an email to Motorola management demanding they end their support for Israeli occupation and apartheid.

Stolen Beauty: Ahava Dead Sea Laboratories makes cosmetics with minerals and mud mined from occupied Palestinian shores of the Dead Sea.  Ahava cosmetics main plant is located in an illegal Israeli settlement, and two settlements own over 40% of the company's stock.  Click here to order an Ahava campaign kit or here to sign our pledge to boycott Ahava.

2. Take legal action towards ending Israel's impunity, including by investigating and prosecuting suspected Israeli war criminals in national courts and international tribunals.

3. Promote and apply pressure to implement arms embargoes against Israel as well as a freeze or cancellation of free trade and other preferential agreements with it, as a crucial and urgent step towards full-fledged sanctions against Israel

Demand an end to U.S. military aid to Israel until it ends its occupation and apartheid practices!  Click here to find out how many of your community's tax-dollars are currently being spent on military aid to Israel.  Click here to send a message to your Members of Congress demanding an end to military aid to Israel.

4. Launch academic, cultural and sports boycott actions against Israel and its complicit institutions.

The US Campaign and its member groups have already been active boycotting the Batsheva Dance Company and Israel Ballet when they toured North America as part of the “Brand Israel” campaign of the Israeli Foreign Ministry. Now there are campaigns going to pressure the Pixies and Elton John to cancel their concerts in Israel this summer. Click here to ask the Pixies to join the cultural boycott of Israel by canceling their Tel Aviv concert planned for this coming June.

March 30th has been known as Palestinian Land Day since 1976, when the Israeli military shot and killed six young Palestinian citizens of Israel as they were protesting the confiscation of their land. In the wake of last year’s devastating assault on the Gaza Strip, the World Social Forum declared March 30th to be an international day of action for the BDS movement. Today, Land Day symbolizes Palestinian resistance to Israel’s ongoing land expropriation, colonization, occupation, and apartheid.
