Join us at the Rally to Restore Sanity

October 30, 2010

For Individuals:

Welcome! Great news that you're interested in joining us. Basically all you need to do is attend the Rally to Restore Sanity and find us. Code Pink will have a large pink flag flying at the center of their “Mad Hatter's Tea Party” and we'll be there to witness the spectical. It shouldn't be difficult to spot. We'll also tweet our location, so be sure to keep up with our twitter feed and our Facebook page. If you're very concerned about finding us you can keep in touch with one of our volunteer coordinators.

If you're interested in volunteering we have a costume preparation meeting Wednesday, October 25th. On Saturday we'll have people there from the break of dawn to try and get the best spot possible. If you show up early we could surely use your help. Please remember to bring snacks and beverages. It will surely be a long day. Weather is expected to be 60 degrees and mostly sunny.

To learn more in advance of the event, contact uscampaign@endtheoccupation.org.

We do also need people to volunteer for specific roles such as coordinators, camera-men/women, or post-rally image/video editor. Having some “tweeters” would also be great. Email us if you're interested in taking one of these roles.

For Our Member Organizations:

If you're a member organization interested in organizing volunteers to attend and assist, please contact us by email ASAP. All member organizations are welcome to participate.

Q: Why is the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation participating in the Jon Stewart's “Rally to Restore Sanity”?
A: Well, why not? Our goal is to reach out to as many people as possible with our simple message that Middle East peace can only be achieved by respecting human rights, international law, and UN resolutions. People attending the Rally to Restore Sanity will hopefully understand our position. In any event, we want to enjoy the party.

Q: Why is Code Pink holding a “Mad Hatter's Tea Party”?
A: We can only speculate:

  1. They want to prove that they're crazier than Stephen Colbert.
  2. They're looking for an excuse to have an all-day Halloween Party.
  3. Medea is not happy with Stewart's attempts to ridicule Code Pink.
  4. They just can't resist the temptation to mock the Tea Party.
  5. They'll do anything to try and stop war.
  6. Why not?

Feel free to ask them directly.

Q: What should I wear? Do I need a costume?
A: You are welcome to wear anything you'd like. Dress to show solidarity with Palestinians, wear a wild Alice-in-Wonderland-themed costume, or just show up as you are.

Q: Where will the after-party(ies) be?
A: We're not sure yet. If you volunteer we'll definitely keep you posted.

Have other questions? Email them to uscampaign@endtheoccupation.org and we'll be happy to answer them. We'll use any reasonable questions to update this page.
