A Milestone in Our Campaign to End Aid to Israel

Activists in 1,000+ Cities Organizing to End Aid to Israel!

Earlier this month, Long Beach, NY became the 1,000th U.S. city to which we’ve sent a packet to empower local activists like you to educate and organize people in your community to end U.S. military aid to Israel.

Check out our
interactive map showing these cities. While you’re there, join our growing national movement to end U.S. aid to Israelby signing up for an organizing packet.

When you do, we’ll send you a packet with postcards, fliers, stickers, fact sheets, posters, and more—everything you’ll need to educate people about the devastating impact that U.S. weapons to Israel have on Palestinians and to get them to take action to change our country’s policy of arming Israel.

Why is it important for us to confront and challenge this policy? Because, as we told AlterNet in this Tax Day article, “Everything that the Israeli military does—every time a Palestinian civilian is killed, every time a Palestinian is prevented from going to work or farming his or her land or has their land stolen to build illegal Israeli settlements—all of these actions are executed with US weapons that are paid for by us, the taxpayers."

With Tax Day come and gone, if you’re the average U.S. taxpayer, then you’ve just given an estimated $21.59 of your taxes to fund U.S. weapons transfers to Israel.  You can “offset” those taxes by making a tax-deductible contribution to support our work.

When you do, we’ll send you a copy of our new policy paper, “U.S. Military Aid to Israel: Policy Implications & Options,” which lays out the historical, political, strategic, economic, legal and human rights rationale for ending U.S. weapons transfers to Israel.

In addition to signing up for an organizing packet and “offsetting” your tax dollars to Israel, here are some more actions that you can take locally to raise awareness about the moral and financial costs of underwriting Israeli occupation of and apartheid toward Palestinians.

* Organize to get your city council to pass a resolution to end U.S. military aid to Israel and redirect the money to unmet community needs. We’ve got an organizing how-to guide, a template resolution, and even some matching funds available.

* Place an ad in your local mass transit system or on local billboards to end U.S. military aid to Israel.  Check out this recent ad by Northern California Friends of Sabeel on San Francisco’s iconic cable cars. We can provide graphics and more to help you launch a similar campaign in your city.

Let us know how we can support your efforts to raise awareness about the impact of U.S. military aid to Israel and to organize to end U.S. weapons transfers to Israel.

Thanks for being part of our growing campaign and helping us ratchet up the pressure on our government to stop funding Israel’s human rights abuses of Palestinians.

Sincerely,

Josh Ruebner

P.S.: If you’re in the Washington, DC area, I’ll be speaking tomorrow night, Thursday, April 19, at the University of Maryland about ending U.S. military aid to Israel. Hope you can make it.
