1. US CAMPAIGN UPDATE

* On August 25th the US Campaign circulated a petition to our membership urging Senators to vote no or abstain on Senate Resolution 408, which condemns the International Court of Justice for ruling that the wall Israel is building in the West Bank is illegal. As of September 6th, the closing day of the petition, 135 organizations from 30 different states had signed the petition. On September 9th, US Campaign staff delivered a copy of the petition to every Senate office. Additionally, the US Campaign is continuing to schedule meetings with Senate offices to discuss our concerns about Senate Resolution 408. * The US Campaign will conduct a grassroots advocacy day training for Stop the Wall-US on Monday September 27, 2004. This advocacy day is part of Stop the Wall-US’s four-month educational tour around the United States. For more information about Stop the Wall-US and their national tour visit www.stopthewall.us

* On September 17th the US Campaign’s Congressional Report Card was updated to reflect new co-sponsors on H.Con.Res.111, the Rachel Corrie Resolution, and S.Res.408, the Senate resolution in support of the Wall. View the Report Card at www.endtheoccupation.org/article.php?list=type&type=59

* Kansas City Regional Conference: On Saturday, November 13, 2004 the US Campaign and Citizens for Justice in the Middle East will conduct a one-day skills-building and organizing conference at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. The goals of this conference are to support and mobilize activists in this region of the country, and to continue strengthening our national network of organizers. An agenda, registration, and housing information will be forthcoming on the web. Citizens for Justice in the Middle East, a Kansas City based member organization of the US Campaign, is hosting this conference. The website of the group is www.cjme.org

* International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinians, November 29, 2004: Save the Date! The US Campaign will be mobilizing nationally for this important international day of solidarity.

3. RESOURCES & EDUCATION

* United for Peace and Justice Voter Handbills are now available at bulk rates. The handbill calls upon voters to focus on what the candidates have done (or not done) on our core issues: peace, not war and occupation; security through human rights; and funding schools, jobs, and health care. * Each year the U.S. administration is required to prepare a detailed report for Congress called the Section 655 which outlines military assistance, military exports and military imports. You can use this report to find detailed information on U.S. arms transfers to Israel. * The Palestine Center just published a study on the Wall by two renowned legal experts, Susan Akram and John Quigley: "International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion on the Legality of Israel’s Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territories: Legal Analysis and Potential Consequences". It will be posted on the Center’s website (www.palestinecenter.org) shortly. In the meantime, email info@palestinecenter.org

* New Film! The Israeli Wall in Palestinian Lands by Andrew Courtney and Emily Perry. This film is made during a time in Palestine when the “Wall” that separates Palestinians from each other and from Israelis was one quarter completed. The film offers the viewer a perspective from seven diverse and ordinary Palestinians whose lives are directly affected by the wall. Demonstration against the Wall, 11am to 4 pm, Farragut Square (K St NW and 17th St NW - north of the White House).
