On Free Cone Day, Take Action to Free Palestine

Vermonters for a Just Peace in Palestine/Israel (VTJP) is seeking solidarity volunteers for the second-annual Free Cone Day Leafleting Action at participating Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops. This year’s event is part of VTJP’s now one-year old campaign to end Ben & Jerry’s complicity in Israel’s occupation of Palestine and the sale of its ice cream in illegal Israeli settlements.
Can you help out on Tuesday, April 8? VTJP supplies leaflets you can print and a sample press release. Ben & Jerry's provides the scoop shops. You bring the energy and effort!
It’s easy to organize a local action, in the U.S. or abroad: Find a scoop shop near you that participates in Free Cone Day with Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop Locator. Please note that some shops take part in the event and some don’t.
Email VTJP to let them know you’ll be participating.
Download sample fliers and press releases to use. Inform local newspapers, television stations, and social media of your plans.
After the event, please send VTJP a short report about your experiences, ideally with a few photographs, toicecream@vtjp.org.
VTJP can also put you in touch with activists near you who are planning to leaflet a scoop shop. Email them now so they can help you start planning!
Ben & Jerry’s is a particularly good pressure point for Palestine outreach and mobilization work. The company operates worldwide. Its complicity with the occupation clashes with its “Peace & Love” message. Its customers are generally surprised and appalled when they find out what’s going on.
Looking for other ways to take action to make a difference on Free Cone Day?
Let Ben & Jerry's know that peace, love, and occupation don't mix!
