Let's Do This Together

by Anna Baltzer, National Organizer

I just returned from Palestine/Israel and I'm filled with a renewed sense of outrage, hope, and responsibility. Israel's occupation and apartheid apparatus is more deeply entrenched than ever, while Palestinian popular, creative resistance continues daily. We know that achieving a lasting peace for all begins with addressing the brutal structures of inequality that are at the root of the devastating violence we see today. Yet U.S. institutions -- from universities to corporations to our government -- remain deeply complicit with Israeli aggression.

The task before us in the U.S. is immense. Yet, witnessing the steadfast endurance of Palestinians on the ground reminded me that to become hopeless is a privilege -- a luxury not afforded those whose walls are closing in on them. If you listen closely, you can hear the pulse of the liberation movement broadening and deepening every day, throughout Palestine and across the world, in our own towns and cities.

It is the same pulse I first perceived when I worked for eight months on the ground documenting the realities of life in occupied Palestine -- a story told in my book, Witness in Palestine: A Jewish American Woman in the Occupied Territories through eyewitness stories, research, original maps and hundreds of color photographs featuring Palestinians experiencing and steadfastly resisting Israeli oppression. You can read what Congressman Keith Ellison, Omar Barghouti, Dr. Salman Abu Sitta, Noam Chomsky, Ilan Pappe, Robin D.G. Kelley, and many others have to say about the book from these reviews.

This year, I published an updated and revised copy of the twice-sold-out memoir, and I'd love to send you a signed copy -- or if you prefer, one signed to a friend or loved one for the holidays.

That's why we're offering a free, signed copy of the new Witness in Palestine to anyone who signs up for our Olive Branch Club between now and the end of 2014. Our Olive Branch Club is for supporters giving a recurring donation to the US Campaign -- monthly, quarterly, or annually.

I invite you to join the Olive Branch Club because the change we seek will not come overnight. We need to build long-term, sustained campaigns and organizational power, and we can only do that with you by our side every step of the way.

Here's the thing: Did you know that recurring donations are BETTER FOR YOU as well as the US Campaign? Here's why: It maximizes every dollar you give. Recurring donations mean…

We Can Plan and Grow: When our revenue is predictable, we can plan long-term and bring our work to the next level. It means we can think bigger and better. We can commit to hiring new staff or beginning new programs because we believe the funds will be there to sustain growth to yield ever greater accomplishments. So your money goes further.

Less Time/Resources Spent on Fundraising: When your donation comes automatically, we can spend less of your money (and our staff time) on soliciting, handling, and processing donations and more of it on the important programmatic work you like. So your money has a greater impact when it's regular.

It also means less of your time spent going through the steps each time -- calculating how much you can give, writing checks, inputting credit card info, paying for postage, etc. Decide once and that's it. Why not spend that same energy taking action for justice each month instead?

We Don't Have to Bug You: Rather than asking you for money, we'd rather be thanking you for the difference you're making, and showing you all your gift has already achieved! Wouldn't that be nice?

Olive Branch Club

So even a small amount given regularly makes a big difference. And as always, donations can be cancelled at any time, and are tax-deductible.

The deteriorating situation on the ground is a call to action for all of us. And if this year has shown us anything -- with Presbyterian divestment, policy wins, and corporate announcements of retreat by SodaStream, Veolia, and G4S -- it is that we can accomplish once unimaginable victories... but only when we work together.

Let me be the first to thank you with a free, signed copy of Witness in Palestine in time for the holidays. Please click here to join the Olive Branch Club today.
