Occupation is War! End War on Iraq, Free Palestine!
Saturday, March 20th 2004 12:30pm
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Occupation is War!
End War on Iraq, Free Palestine!

Free Palestine contingent in March 20th Philadelphia anti-war march and rally

Event: A Feeder March to Oppose War on Iraq and the Palestinian People

Date and Time: Saturday March 20th, 12:30 pm

Location: Love Park (15th and JFK streets), We will meet up, rally and then feed into the larger march as it passes City Hall.

March 20th marks the one-year anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq. On this day, millions around the world will demonstrate as part of a global day of action calling for an end to the US occupation of Iraq. An estimated 10,000 or more Iraqi civilians have lost their lives in the latest illegal action of US foreign policy. The Iraqi people continue to have their right to self-determination violated as a result of the US occupation.

Similarly, conditions in Palestine worsen as another occupation supported by the United States continues. The Israeli government continues to intensify its occupation policies by the construction of “The Wall,” a barrier that separates Palestinians from their lands, jobs, schools and family while further imprisoning an entire population that is yet to exercise its right to self-determination. In addition, Israel continues to suppress its own citizen’s voices of dissent most exemplified by the recent sentencing of 5 Israeli COs to one-year in prison.

The occupation policies of both the US and Israel have reached an incredible coincidence with the setting up of check-points, use of targeted assassinations, and the suppression of political organizing and protest. As activists around the world build bridges based on solidarity the Israeli government is erecting a Wall based on segregation and separation that is the latest manifestation of an all out assault on the Palestinian people.

We must stand for international law and human dignity! The US occupation of Iraq will not make us safer. The continued suppression of Palestinians’ rights does not make Jews, Israelis, or the US safer. Safety lies in domestic and foreign polices that protect and enforce all peoples’ national, civil, and human rights. No to occupation in Iraq! No to occupation in Palestine!

Join us on Saturday, March 20th for a Free Palestine contingent in the Philadelphia anti-war march that marks the one-year anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq. Bring banners, posters, props and anything else which will remind people of the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and liberation as well as your opposition to the US war at home and abroad.

End War on Iraq, Free Palestine!
