Seattle Remembers Rachel Corrie
Tuesday, March 16th 2004 5:30 PM
Seattle, Washington

On March 16th 2003, in the town of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, Olympia activist Rachel Corrie was crushed to death by a Caterpillar bulldozer driven by an Israeli soldier. Rachel was murdered while standing as a human obstacle to the impending demolition of a Palestinian home. While the impact of Rachel's death was felt heavily in Rafah and in Western Washington, activists opposing injustice around the globe grieved for the loss of a comrade and sister, understanding well the stand she had taken.

Please join us on Tuesday, March 16th 2004 as we remember Rachel Corrie with a memorial procession: Gather at 5:30 pm in front of the Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park. The procession will begin at 6pm along 15th Ave E. and will end with a ceremony in the plaza at Seattle Central Community College, corner of Broadway and Pine, beginning at 7pm.

Participants are encouraged to wear black or other dark colors and bring a candle. A few members of Seattle's Labor and Peace Choruses will lead us in songs at stops along the way.

For those planning to attend but who may not make it to Volunteer Park by 6pm, the route will be as follows: From Volunteer Park to John Street along 15th Ave E, From 15th to Broadway along John St and then along Broadway from John Street to Pine Street and Seattle Central Community College. To return to Volunteer Park after the event, the #10 bus runs along Pine from SCCC to 15th where it runs west to Volunteer Park.

Location:
In front of the Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park  Seattle Washington
