New York Committee to Defend Palestine presents a teach-in:
THE MYTH OF DEMOCRACY: THE HISTORY OF APARTHEID IN ISRAEL
Thursday, December 2, 2004
7:30 pm
ALWAN, 16 Beaver St. 4th floor (www.alwan.org)
Take the 4 or 5 Subway to Bowling Green
Please join the New York Commitee to Defend Palestine as members discuss the harsh realities of being Palestinian within Palestine48 or what is more widely known as the state of Israel. Although Israel has been referred to as the "democracy" of the Middle East, its racist policies towards Palestinians and their treatment as 'second-class citizens' speaks of a zionist oppression that has little relation to democratic processes. Members of the committee will focus on a number of issues facing Palestinian citizens including state policies that limit access to jobs, education, social welfare programs, and the lack of political representation in the creation of these policies.
This will be followed by a group discussion.
Location: Alwan 16 Beaver Street, 4th Floor New York New York
