Washington, DC: Jerusalem Women Speak
Tuesday, March 29th 2005 9:30- 10:30 am
The Jerusalem Women Speak tours were designed from the very beginning to bring the voices of women from the Jerusalem area and from the two national communities and three religious groups directly to Americans in their own home towns. The tours are designed to be media-friendly and seek to amplify the voices beyond the local events through radio, television and the print media. We try to visit ten cities in 16 days and seek to present them to the general public through World Affairs Councils, Interfaith gatherings, university audiences, retirement communities, youth centers, and business and professional clubs. In addition, we schedule meetings with editorial boards and seek talk show hosts as well as television interviews.

Berkeley, California: Film Screening of "Arna's Children"
Wednesday, March 30th 2005 7pm
Arna Mer Khamis was a legendary activist against the Israeli Occupation. Born into a Jewish family, she married a Palestinian and spent her life working for justice and human rights in her homeland. In the Jenin refugee camp, Arna taught the children to express themselves through acting and art. Arna's son, Juliano Mer Khamis, filmed his mother and the children rehearsing and performing over a six-year period. Five years after Arna's death, Juliano returns to the camp to discover what happened to them. "Arna's Children" reveals the tragedy and horror of young lives trapped by the circumstances of occupation.
