Palestine Contingent

While working to end all U.S. support for Israeli occupation, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing, it is essential for Palestinian rights activists to challenge oppressive structures that sustain injustice anywhere as part of our commitment to standing against all forms of racism and bigotry.

The recent Ferguson police shooting of Michael Brown has sparked a national conversation about racial profiling, police militarization, and our broken system of justice. The US Campaign has been on the ground working to support the struggle in St. Louis.

This is a critical moment to stand with black and brown communities plagued by police misconduct and institutional racism and is why the US Campaign, member group St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee, and many others are organizing a Palestine contingent as part of the Ferguson October Weekend of Resistance.

Find the call-out and a list of endorsing organizations here.

There will be a variety of activities happening throughout the weekend including: street actions, panel discussions, hip hop events, faith-based clergy-led events, and nonviolent direct action trainings.

The Palestine contingent specifics include:

  • Friday, October 10th: Panel discussion exploring the intersections of U.S. police practices and militarization around the world, including in Palestine.

  • Saturday, October 11th: Large national march at the historic old St. Louis courthouse (where Dred Scott was denied his freedom) with Palestine support contingent.

  • Sunday, October 12: Hip Hop & Hope evening featuring Palestinian poet and activist Suheir Hammad.

  • Monday, October 13th: Action focused on a target highlighting intersections of militarized policing in Ferguson and Palestine.
