CONGRESSIONAL TASKFORCE
[congress@endtheoccupation.org]

Congress plays a crucial role in maintaining and promoting US diplomatic, economic, and military support of Israel's occupation of Palestine. In order to change this, US citizens from a wide range of religious and ethnic backgrounds must let their Members of Congress know that they want them to pursue a balanced, constructive foreign policy that will lead to an end of the occupation and the establishment of a just peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

The Congressional Taskforce of the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation will facilitate this process in several ways. First, it will organize a "National Pledge for Peace" and put grassroots pressure on Members of Congress to sign the pledge committing them to work for an end to the occupation and a balanced foreign policy. Second, it will track relevant pieces of legislation and other items on the Congressional agenda. This information will then be disseminated around the country through legislative "calls to action," complete with background information and talking points to empower activists to engage their elected representatives. Third, the taskforce will promote citizen activism by encouraging regular meetings with Members of Congress both in Washington, DC and in their home districts.

We are posting here—for use by your local organization—the US Campaign National Pledge. The US Campaign is organizing this "National Pledge for Peace" effort to put grassroots pressure on Members of Congress to sign the pledge committing them to work for an end to the occupation and a balanced foreign policy. If you—or your organization—would like to become involved in this effort, please download the PDF of the National Pledge and contact the US Campaign at congress@endtheoccupation.org for assistance on how to best utilize this activist resource.

BECOME A CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT COORDINATOR

The US Campaign is looking for a few good volunteers to become congressional district coordinators (CDCs). The Campaign will be relying upon CDCs to form the grassroots backbone of a national advocacy effort to change US policy toward the Israel-Palestine conflict. If you are interested in becoming a CDC, complete the brief questionnaire here [ HTML | PDF | WORD ] and return the information to congress@endtheoccupation.org.
