Obama Gives Israel Way Too Much Love in Valentine's Day Budget

February 14th, 2011

Today--Valentine's Day--President Obama sent his 2012 budget request to Congress.  As we anticipated, it includes a record-breaking request for $3.075 billion in military aid to Israel.

Given our $14 trillion debt and the fact that Israel misuses U.S. military aid to commit systematic human rights abuses against Palestinians, now is the time to end--not increase--military aid to Israel.

Because the President showed Israel way too much love on Valentine's Day, we're hoping that you can be our Valentine by "offsetting" the estimated $21.59 in weapons that the average taxpayer will give to Israel this year.

Your Valentine's Day gift to the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, unlike flowers and chocolate, is entirely tax-deductible and will go directly toward our campaign to educate and organize millions of our fellow citizens to challenge military aid to Israel during this budget cycle.

Also check out our web site, aidtoisrael.org, where you can:

View how much money your city, county, Congressional district and state provide in military aid to Israel, and determine how much health care, education, housing and jobs training this money could purchase instead.

* Send your own personalized letter to the President and Congress opposing $3.075 billion in military aid to Israel in this year's budget.  This year, our supporters have generated nearly 7,000 letters; add yours right now!

* Join 2,000 people from 49 states and nearly 800 cities in signing up to educate and organize people in your community to end military aid to Israel.  When you sign up, we'll send you a free, new and improved organizing packet with postcards, flyers and fact sheets.

Have your organization join us and more than 65 other national and local organizations in endorsing our letter --"We Cannot Afford Military Aid to Israel"--to the White House and Congress.

Supporter, thanks again for being our Valentine by "offsetting" your taxes in military aid to Israel.  Your generous support enables us to continue our efforts to educate and organize people to end U.S. military aid to Israel.
