Join Us for Protests of AIPAC, Netanyahu Speech Starting Sat.

Kristin Szremski of AMP delivers letters of thanks from more than 100 constituents to civil rights legend Rep. John Lewis, who is skipping the speech. Check out all the pics here.

Yesterday the US Campaign—along with American Muslims for Palestine, Code Pink and Jewish Voice for Peace—flooded Members of Congress with thousands of letters and petition signatures from constituents like you calling on them to #SkipTheSpeech of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

We visited the offices of 75 Members of Congress who are either skipping the speech to thank them or who are thinking about skipping to encourage them to do so. In office after office, staff told us of the huge constituent backlash to Netanyahu’s speech that you’ve helped generate and how important those phone calls and letters are in helping them make the difficult political call to #SkipTheSpeech.

Check out all of the action on this Tumblr and spread the word.

If you haven’t yet, there’s still time for you to make an impact by calling and writing this week.

Netanyahu’s speech to Congress is taking place during the annual policy conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the leading pro-Israel lobby supporting Israel’s oppression of Palestinians and more sanctions against Iran.

Beginning this Saturday, we’re cosponsoring with member group Code Pink and several other organizations a multi-day gathering, #ShutDownAIPAC.

From Saturday, February 28 through Tuesday, March 3, join us in Washington, DC for a series of teach-ins, trainings, protests, and a grassroots lobby day to counter AIPAC’s agenda and protest Netanyahu’s speech.

For a full list of events and to RSVP for them on Facebook, click here.

We know that most of you won’t be able to join us in person for #ShutDownAIPAC. Stay tuned for an alert early next week with more action that you can take to join us from wherever you are.

Thanks as always for taking action!
