Take Action: Sign Our Thank You Card to Members of Congress

Did you catch Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress yesterday?  In bellicose and bombastic terms, he claimed that the deal being negotiated between the United States and Iran—talks aimed at verifying that Iran will continue to only develop its nuclear capabilities for peaceful and legitimate purposes—“paves Iran's path to the bomb.”

Sign our thank you card to the sensational sixty!

Of course Netanyahu failed to mention the fact that Israel is a nuclear rogue state which refuses to sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty (Iran is a signatory) and has an estimated arsenal of 80 nuclear warheads and the ballistic missiles to deliver them. Nor did Netanyahu mention even once the Palestinian people who remain the object of Israeli oppression.

But it’s clear that things are beginning to change on Capitol Hill, thanks in large part to your efforts!

The speech was so poorly received that House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), a staunch supporter of Israel, stated that she was “near tears” throughout it, “saddened by the insult to the intelligence of the United States…and saddened by the condescension toward our knowledge.” And we bet you’ve never seen Members of Congress speak out against an Israeli Prime Minister as these members did in a post-speech rebuttal.

And, best of all, at least 60 Members of Congress agreed with you that they should not dignify Netanyahu with their presence.

Can you please sign our thank you card to these brave 60 Members of Congress who agreed to #SkipTheSpeech?

They are coming under immense pressure from the Israel lobby for their decision. Let’s show them that there exists huge grassroots support for their stance! Please sign our thank you card today.

We’ll deliver the thank you card to all 60 Congressional offices next week, so please be sure to sign today and then spread the word on social media.

And speaking of media, we’ve been busy both before and after the speech getting out our viewpoint. Check out this article I wrote for The Hill and this post-speech analysis I did with Jamal Abdi of the National Iranian American Council and Rebecca Vilkomerson of Jewish Voice for Peace. You can view many of our recent media hits on our “In The News” web section.

Plus, in case you missed it on social media, we released these two short videos in the run-up to the speech. They’ve already been viewed more than 750,000 times! Please watch and then share on social media.

Thanks again for signing our thank you card and for all of your much-appreciated efforts—from writing letters, to making phone calls, to delivering petitions—that made #SkipTheSpeech such a success!
